Elisha was the prophet who took over from the prophet Elijah. Elisha wore Elijah’s cloak as proof he was God’s choice to replace Elijah.
The student prophets showed Elisha a spot near the Jordan River where they wanted to build a new house for themselves.
They got to work with their axes cutting down trees.
Suddenly, one student's ax head flew off the handle and into the Jordan River.
"Oh, no!" said the student to Prophet Elisha. "That ax head wasn't mine. I borrowed it!"
Prophet Elisha cut down a stick and threw it into the river where the young man's ax head fell.
The ax head floated to the top of the river, so the young man could see it again.
The young man retrieved the ax head and thanked God.
